Overview of the Employee Child Care Assistance Partnership (ECCAP)
The ECCAP Program is a program unique to Kentucky that is designed to help families by encouraging employers to contribute to their employees’ child care costs. Here’s how it works:
Funding: Kentucky’s state government matches employer contributions dollar-for-dollar.
How Matching Works: The state’s match is based on household income.
Here’s a real example at LaFontaine Early Learning Center:
Example 1: Monthly tuition at our Wayne Dr. site is $795 per month. A participating employer contributed $200. The family qualified for a state match in the amount of $180. The family only pays the balance of $415, saving almost half of the total cost.
Example 2: A very generous employer contributed $425. The family qualified for a state match in the amount of $382.50. The total contribution toward their monthly tuition is $807.50.
This program makes child care more affordable and accessible for working families.
*At this time, the ECCAP program isn’t available to individuals working for public entities, including government institutions like schools, police departments, or colleges.
